ADAM STURKENBOOM

Head of Development, Writer, Producer

“Murdisteboom for me started with a simple sentence I asked my friends one summer day; ‘Want to make a movie in 48 hours?’. Now, almost three years later, we’re still making movies. We don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. There are many, many more stories left for us to tell.”

From a Sheltered School Kid to a Savvy Scribe

Adam may be known today as our resident screenwriting and story junkie, but his love for storytelling, like many things, goes back to his early childhood. “Before I used scripts and screens to tell stories, I used Lego blocks and Hot Wheels cars to entertain an audience of one; myself.“

Diagnosed with PDDNOS (Aspergers Syndrome now known as Autism Spectrum Disorder) as a child while involved in an intense religious group, Adam found it difficult to find his place in the world once he went his own way. Film and TV allowed him to find a new community to call his own. “It isn’t easy at times to express myself or understand others through dialogue or body language. Using screenwriting and filmmaking as a stepping stool to connect with other people has been the greatest gift someone like me can have.”

With a platform to share his weird ideas with others, Adam hasn’t put his foot off the gas. From short films to feature scripts and everything in between, Adam won’t rest until as many of his thematically driven stories are out for the world to see."There’s no better thrill than sitting with an audience as they react to your work for the first time. They may love or hate everything you wrote, but getting the chance to make an audience see where my brain can go is incredibly exciting.”
